There's a federal deadline coming that could change access to full-spectrum hemp products for pets — and most pet parents have no idea it's happening. I brought Sean Zyer, founder of Earth Buddy, back…
Sean ZyerGuestJessHostMany of us, myself included, use full spectrum hemp products for our pets.
Some of us also use them for ourselves.
And unfortunately, we live in a time where, yeah, it wasn't that long ago that it was approved that we could actually buy this stuff.
And now we are facing a situation where where we don't really know what's going to happen.
Everything is kind of up in the air.
It looks like we may not have access to full spectrum or whole plant.
We've always called it full spectrum, but I guess full plant is potentially a better way of describing it.
And we may not have access to it in the very near future.
We've known about this for a while, and most people haven't really talked about it a whole heck of a lot.
I think for me, it has been twofold.
One, I really didn't know what to say about it because it's a complex issue.
And I mean, yes, it has changed.
And even very recently, it's changed again and they pushed the vote back, I believe, into December, whether it's November or December 18th.
It's still out there that we may not have access to full spectrum hemp products in the very near future.
And to me, that feels devastating.
To brands that make these products, I feel like that's also devastating, but for a different reason.
Though there are definitely people out there who do what they do because of how it helps the pets.
And those are the people... that I care to talk to.
Side note, just because it came up as I was talking about this, that's truly how I want to continue bringing brands on to talk to you is in understanding that they're doing what they're doing because they truly believe in what they're doing is, you know, it's helping the pets out there, possibly the people as well.
Not because The pet industry is a multi-billion dollar market, tens of billions of dollars a year that the pet industry brings in.
I was recently at SuperZoo and that was one of the things that I got really frustrated about was talking to people who In listening to their story, they're just they found that there's money in this niche.
And yes, did they do work to figure out what products to bring to market? Of course they did.
But not to meet a need.
Really, they did it because there's so much money to be made in the pet industry and they were just trying to find their way in.
That's the kind of thing that bothers me.
The people that created products and created brands out of products because either their pet or they saw pets in need.
Those are the kind of people and brands that I want to talk to.
And there are, I think, brands on both sides of that in the hemp industry as well.
So I really didn't know how to approach this topic.
It feels so big, so much bigger than me.
