But he didn't.
He chose probably to get double the money from his other hometown team, his adopted hometown team.

Patrick Kane rejoins the Chicago Blackhawks in a two million, I fucking wish, in a two-year deal worth eight million per year.
I'm absolutely ecstatic.
I'm also a massive Tottenham Hotspur fan, for those who don't know.
At the time, Harry Kane was coming through at Spurs.
I saw that there was also a player called Kane on this team.
So, you know, that was kind of how I landed on my team, really.
And it was such a gutting day when he left initially, but it made complete sense for what they were doing at the time.
And I know there has been a constant clamouring for Kane to come back.
And I would say up until this summer, It's never really made practical sense, hockey sense.
It's never made sense for them to do prior to now.
And, you know, yes, there is a massive aspect of nostalgia assigned to this deal.
But let's not get it twisted.
Even at 37, 38 years old, he's still productive.
can still score, can still create.
He's not going to be playing with the pressure in Chicago that he would be playing with in Buffalo.
He's still going to be able to play some top six minutes.
After the news of the Bedard injury, which we'll come to later in the show, the mood was so flat around the fan base.
This has perked them right up.
