Welcome aboard the LFG Series. A popular short-form series compiling bite-sized insights to lift you up and challenge your thinking on the way to your next round. Today's LFG episode is about getting…
I think that the best coaches and the best tour players and the best people in this game keep it as simple as possible.
Don't get fancy.
Don't get dangerous.
We're not- w- we don't need to make birdie.
Like, let's just hit some greens in regulation and play away from the danger and put it on the green and just, and like take away the, the chance at a seven or an eight.
Go down a club.
If it was a driver, go to three wood.
If you have that same feeling, go to a hybrid.
If you have that same feeling, go to a four iron.
If you have that same feeling still, go to a five iron, six iron, seven iron, eight iron.
If you have a, if you have that feeling with a wedge on the tee shot, you, you have a problem.
You got the yips or something.
But, you know, just go down a club until you feel that confidence and hit it, and I challenge you to do that next time you go play.
You have to remember all the good shots, forget the bad ones.
Know like deep down that, you know, if the putts aren't falling and you're hitting it great or better than you usually do, then you just have to stay positive and be like, "They're gonna start to fall here soon." Or if you're making all the putts for par and you're not hitting it well, you know, you just have to like keep telling yourself, "Well, if I can just hit it a little bit better, I'm gonna keep making these putts and they're gonna be for birdie instead of par." So you just kind of have to really trust like you know what you do well and, and trust that it's gonna, it's gonna happen.
We're not trying to shoot 72.
Some people are, for sure.
But let's say stock 12 handicap.
We're not trying to shoot 72.
I feel like the hardest thing is to not be constantly comparing your current self to a better self.
You need to know what you need to do.
And if that doesn't look good on camera but you perfect it, you need to be big enough to live with that.
You don't rise to the occasion, you sink back on your training.
