Finding Meaning After the Fire with Daral Boles

thing I appreciate is that you didn't stop with the story.

You became curious and you started researching.

You started asking bigger questions.

And I think that's where transformation really begins.

A difficult experience changes us.

But reflection changes the meaning of the experience.

I've seen that over and over in my own work.

Leaders go through incredibly difficult seasons.

The people who grow aren't necessarily the ones who avoided hardship.

They're the ones willing to ask, what is this trying to teach me? That is a very different question than, why did this happen?

Yeah, terrifying.

It is a kind of trauma for people.

And it's important to think about, wow, what just happened to me? And then in terms of the fire, what does it mean? What does it mean? Okay, this happened.

Why is it important? What did I learn? What maybe even are the gifts of this thing that I would never have chosen to do? Hmm? The funny place

to land.

I also love that you're giving readers both.

You're giving them the human story, and then you're giving them the research behind it.

Because stories open our hearts.

Research helps our minds make sense of what happened.

When those two come together, people don't just understand information.

They understand themselves.

Let's see if I can remember what I just said.

I think it was, what just happened to me? Like, slow it down, frame by frame.

What just happened to me? What does it mean to me? And what might be...

the gifts, the learning in this experience.
