Nicola GrahamHost
Okay back to the unfiltered so last week I'd mentioned on social media that Mother Nature was due.

I'd got into the gym I'd sort of like lost track of my cycle a little bit you know because we'd been away on holiday and I knew it was kind of brewing anyway I just felt shattered get into the gym thought I'm gonna have a little look on my flow track and it must be it must be around this time and it was like yeah today you're due on today basically or any any any time around the next like couple of days.

Um following that I kind of went MIA on social media for 48 hours which is something that you will notice that I might do because I'm going to talk about that protecting our energy and understanding where we need to pull back especially women in our 40s that we don't have the bandwidth that we had before so I sort of went MIA and then got that out of the way protecting my energy is it's so critically important now for me to be able to get through menstrual cycle and not feel too burnt out feel too overstretched.

Don't forget menstrual cycle ladies is for a lot of women it's the biggest rebound of the month because it's the one time of the month that you cannot control your cravings your sleep is up the wall you're feeling more anxious you don't have the energy to work out you don't recover the way that you were before and so it's a little bit all over and it's like this it's like this massive rebound every month and it can feel really frustrating especially if you've been on course for your goals you've been doing really well you've been doing all of the things it's it's you know it's starting to feel so much easier and then bang Menstrual cycle hits and you haven't adapted, you haven't adapted what you've been doing for the last however many years.

We're hoping that the chocolate's not gonna add up, and that the sleepless nights are not gonna make any difference.

And, you know, whether that's a gain on the scales, I, I say that because I know for a lot of my clients that is a, a, an absolute mental battle.

But one of the things that I have been doing is just, it's just managing my energy a lot better so that I have got more awareness around cravings and winding down before sleep.

And just energy to be able to show up in real life, which is what I always talk about, for the things that matters, which during the summer holidays it is having the energy to still be able to keep up with your kids and keep up with their schedules and juggle the late nights and then the early mornings and everything else that we've got going on.

So I recorded something actually for social media earlier in the week, and I didn't post it, and I thought, I'm gonna speak about this on the podcast.

And it's one of the symptoms that I've been experiencing, which is out the other side of cycle.

And for whatever reason, I didn't post it, but I'd gone out for a walk because I knew I needed it, not because I particularly wanted to, but I knew I needed it.

One of the symptoms that I'm experiencing is post-cycle my mood still feels a little bit low.

You know the way, you know the way just during that window of menstrual cycle, you can't put your finger on it.

We could drop, you know, we could cry at the drop of a hat, and y- you can't quite put your finger on what it is.

I try to explain this to my husband and o- of course he doesn't get it, but we just feel a bit low.

It's like a wave, isn't it? Like you just feel, you feel that coming out the other side.
