EP423 The Best Weather For Duck Hunting

Is there generally more duck movement closer to the ground with birds that you're able to call in and take shots at on bad weather days? Well, my experience has been half of that is true.

Are there more ducks moving closer to the ground on bad weather days? I have in my experience seen that that is maybe accurate.

More often than not, I do think that I see more birds flying low on bad weather days.

and all the various reasons and theories behind that I don't want to get into.

I'm just talking about my experience here.

I did not bring a dozen research papers to quote or anything like that.

But I do think I have seen more birds flying lower.

Am I more able to call those birds in on bad weather days than on clear days? That I'm not so sure about.

Just because I've seen more birds, I don't know that I've had better success getting more birds to come in.

You know, that's maybe in your area you have.

But now, of course, if there's more birds out there, your chances are maybe better, right? They're certainly better than if there's no birds, right? But I'm not 100% sold that I've had better success calling ducks on days where the weather was poor.

When I say poor, I mean wet, windy, rainy, all of those kinds of things.

But again, I've only hunted in certain areas, and other areas you might have different results.

But I certainly could concede to the point that you can't call the ducks in that aren't there.

And if there are more ducks moving... then your chances of being able to call them in just by virtue of there being more ducks is better.

So I'm on board with that.

That makes sense to me from a big picture standpoint.
