Christopher Abbott as Professor X — Why Marvel’s Bold Cast Actually Work

Well, I'm, I'm intrigued.

I mean, I think, I think at a very high level, I would generally applaud Marvel for at least seemingly sticking to the idea of, hey, let's...

We can debate how successful all of these will be, and the verdict will be written.

But I like the idea of don't just fall for the big name.

If you believe in somebody, and you really think they can play the part, or they ca- or they pitched you on a ver- a vision of a character that you really liked, then that's the most important thing, and we'll go along with you for that ride.

And if they deliver, they will become household names.

I mean, I, I just-

... generally speaking, with one, probably one notable exception, I think everyone on this list is on the rise or unknown.

And I think, I think there's really only one established kinda A-list name really on this entire, on this entire list.

I thought the presentation of it was a little weird, and I listened to a few... 'Cause, we ob- weren't there.

Mm-hmm.

I listened to a few podcasts of people who covered, like, all of D23.

Yeah.

And one thing that I heard that I thought was interesting was they saved this for kinda, like, the end of, like, multiple days of panels.

Mm.

I think some people are saying a little bit of regret that this wasn't in Hall H at Comic-Con.

Because as a result, you had a lot of people that were very tired [chuckles] that had been there, like, a long time, been hearing a lot of stuff, and really didn't explode at these announcements, right? Now, that shouldn't matter in terms of the product, but we'll get to it in a second.

Because some of these actors are, like, relatively unknown or on the way up, it's interesting that they just kinda trotted them out there.

Yeah.

Almost as if we all kinda know who they are, and it's, like, I, I actually don't think...

I mean, certainly in, in the case of the actress playing Storm, I don't think anyone really knows who, who she is yet, yet.

So I thought that was a little bit interesting, that they didn't...
