Timothy Caufield joins Rob to talk about a topic that is gaining traction as more Canadians are looking for health advice online - and that is where the bad actors are waiting. Aired October 3, 2026…

From a policy angle, what should health regulators and medical colleges and social media platforms be doing right now to protect people from these AI deepfake doctors? Because I think the responsibility is on multiple entities here.
We should be blaming the entities and the platforms that are enabling this nonsense.
The good news is, I've been working in this space for a long time, as you know, Rob, and talking about regulating misinformation can be a very polarizing topic.
There was a very recent Angus Reid poll that found that, listen to this, 95% of Canadians agree that AI misinformation is a big, 95% agree it's a big issue, right? So this is bipartisan support for responding to this.
If there's an AI agent or a real person selling bogus stuff online, we need a regulatory response.
I think that's, you know, especially if they're going over regulatory guidelines already that are present in things like entities like Health Canada.
The problem is there's so much nonsense out there right now, Rob, that the regulators are overwhelmed.
You know, what can they do? So I do think consumers need to be incredibly alert.
