Right? She's an ambassador for me." And then the moment you hear that I have a program or an offering, things flip.
It's like a, a light switch flips and you're suspicious, and, "She only wants me for my money, and this is all a scam.
This is all an attempt to just t- separate me from my money to take advantage of me." It's a really insidious, um...
The, the problem, uh, I'm gonna talk, I'm gonna talk to you about this way of thinking and an alternative way of thinking.
But I'll say why it's important that you articulate and understand that this is happening for you is that this is impacting your ability to have a successful business.
If on some level, anytime you have the opportunity to exchange money for connection, service, upleveling, growth, and it becomes confused in your mind with being taken advantage of, scammed, hurt again like you were hurt before, if that happens for you, it is going to be literally impossible to run a business as a therapist where you're actually able to, uh, earn the money you want to earn, but not only that, but do the clinical work you want to do.
Because if you are constantly feeling scammy, um, uh, manipulative, uh, like a bad person when you're charging clients for the work you do, the professional work you do, it, it shows up clinically in a way that's really, uh, problematic, um, re-traumatizing, unconsciously enacting dynamics that are, um, um, further damaging your client versus helping your client.
There are other ways you're helping your client, certainly, but if this, uh, issue is not seen, understood, and addressed, it is impacting your clinical work.
