Alan KohlerHostUm, and, and this year it's been powered by two stocks, basically, SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics, both of which make memory, uh, computer memory, which has become increasingly important in the AI infrastructure build-out.
Um, but yesterday w- we saw, you know, o- on, on, on Monday night we saw a bit of skittishness amongst, in, in tech stocks on Wall Street.
O- o- one thing is that, uh, SK Hynix said that they will adjust their production.
They'll make less a- of, of their AI memory chips and more commodity memory chips they're called.
W- while this was portrayed as a move because the commodity, uh, memory s- memory profit margins are bigger than the AI profit margins, so SK Hynix is sort of, you know, making sure it maximize profits.
Yeah, a little bit, but, um, we have seen in the last little while a, a bit of a push, um, around, you know, we've seen laptop m- memory prices shoot up.
I- if you went and bought one now, you'd probably end up paying the same, you know...
Let, let's say you wanted to spend, I don't know, I'm picking a number here, 1,500 bucks on a, on a new laptop.
It would just have less memory and less, uh, compute in it [laughs] than it once, than it did a year ago, um, because the, uh, of these soaring memory costs.
