Push, pull, legs... Upper/lower... Full body... Everyone seems to have an opinion on the "best" training split The truth is... The best split depends on you Your goals Your lifestyle Your…
They can all work.
I've tried pretty much everything out there, and there's no such thing as an ideal split.
It depends on what your goals are, what you can commit to, and I'm going to delve into this a little bit deeper.
So let's look at a few different splits that you can do.
You've got a full body training split, so that's really where you train the full body, usually two to four times per week.
Every muscle in the body gets hit, your chest, your back, your shoulders, your biceps, your triceps, your thighs, your hamstrings, your calves, core, et cetera, et cetera.
So a full body split is where we're hitting everything in one session.
now the advantage of doing a full body session is we can hit your body frequently so for somebody like a beginner it's very good they don't need to do a bodybuilding split and you might be able to hit your chest let's say for example three times in a week your back three times per week it's also a great way of burning body fat because blood is circulating all over your body so it's a great it's great way of achieving a high output Whereas in like a beginner trying to do a bodybuilding split, you know, maybe doing like 20 sets for the chest, it's just over training, it's overkill.
So a full body split, I generally find for beginners or for people that are limited with the number of training sessions they can do, I've mentioned this on previous episodes, I work with a lot of high level executives, CEOs, it's all basically through LinkedIn.
And these guys are incredibly successful, but incredibly time poor.
Their schedules are ridiculous.
Like we're talking maybe in some cases, 70 to 80 hours a week traveling, you know, responsible for thousands of people's jobs, livelihoods.
They have, you know, maybe public companies.
So they're dealing with like directors, investors.
It's just crazy, right? They can't just go to the gym.
They're traveling in hotels.
So the plan that we have to follow a lot of the time is full body sessions because they haven't got the luxury and they haven't got the capacity to be able to do lots of variety.
So full body sessions, if you're very busy, if you can only do two to three sessions per week, and if you're a beginner, fantastic.
A lot of my clients do full body splits for those reasons.
