So I wanted to talk about this because this is something that can completely change the way we experience our lives.

And that is learning how to stop judging other people and equally important, how to stop being so concerned when other people judge us and for us not to judge others.

Now, before we go any further, I'm not talking about throwing out our common sense.

Is this person trustworthy? Is this a good business decision? Is it safe to cross the road right now? Should I eat this thing that has been sitting in the refrigerator since Christmas? That is discernment and this is intelligence.

I'm talking about the other kind of judgment, the judgment that comes from the ego, the part of us that decides how everybody else should behave, what they should say, what they should wear, how they should live, and most importantly, what they should think about us.

Again, that naughty little thing called shoulding on ourselves and shoulding on others.

Why did they say that? What did they mean by that? How dare they speak to me like that? And three hours later, we're still having the same argument in our head all while the other person has completely forgotten about it and is somewhere happily eating something yummy that has not been sitting in the fridge since Christmas.

This is one of the ways the ego keeps us trapped in lower states of consciousness because judgment so easily leads to reaction.

Or perhaps we don't think someone understood what we meant and now we think they have judged us.

So we spend hours, sometimes days, thinking about how we can get them to understand what we really meant.
