I Didn't Find Anything...Except a Flying Corpse!

Okay, maybe failed is a little dramatic.

I did find some things, just not the things I wanted to find.

And before we go any further, I want to repeat something I said last week because I think it's even more important now.

I do not know that the Claire Morgan in this obituary is the Claire Morgan who wrote that journal.

Those are still two completely separate people as far as I'm concerned.

One of them definitely did exist, and the other one...

Well, I guess the jury's still out.

So I started with the obvious stuff.

I searched Claire's name with about every keyword combination I could think of.

Like Claire Morgan Observation Officer, Claire Morgan Ranger, Claire Morgan Forest Service, Claire Morgan Blackwood Forest, Millbrook, Fire Tower.

I tried adding places, dates, agencies, job titles, but nothing.

Or at least nothing useful.

The obituary gave me the basic outline.

She was in her late 20s when she died.

She worked as a conservation officer.

She lived a few hours from Millbrook.

Her death was unexpected.

And she had family.

And I'm deliberately not going to give you their names or telling you exactly where she lived because they did not ask to be part of this at all.

And right now, I don't have any reason to drag a real grieving family into whatever the hell this is.

Especially when there's a very good chance that their Claire Morgan had absolutely nothing to do with mine.

But I did try to verify things the best I could without bothering anyone.

And that's where this got really frustrating.

Because Claire isn't completely absent from the public record.

She's just barely there.
