There's a story in Mark chapter 2 where four men carry their friend to Jesus.
They can't get through the door.
There's a crowd.
There's people already inside, already close, already interested, and so they climb up on the roof, and they start digging.
They tear a hole in somebody's house and lower their friend down on a mat just to get them in front of Jesus.
And that's what we're after here.
This has never been about growing a bigger crowd.
It has always been about making room for one more, doing whatever it takes to get as many people as we possibly can in front of Jesus, one at a time, tearing off a roof if that's what it takes.
And for us to become the church that Jesus has in mind, it's going to take every single one of us.
For MCC, our mission is to help everyone gain traction toward transformation in Jesus.
And that word, everyone, it has never been about a crowd.
We are not competing for attendance.
We are fighting for eternities.
We are trying to reach one more.
So this fall, we are launching one of the biggest things we have ever done as a church, a two-year generosity initiative, and we are calling it Everyone.
A powerful principle that we see all throughout scripture is this, generosity generates transformation.
Generosity has a way of unlocking something within us that little else can touch.
God has never needed your money, but He does want your heart, and generosity is often how He goes after it.
Where your treasure is, your heart follows.
The heart of the matter is a question for every one of us to ask, "God, what would you have me do with what you have given me?" Which means our primary goal for the Everyone initiative is not a financial goal.
It's engagement, 100% engagement, that every single one of us would go before the Lord and ask what He would have us do in regard to our generosity.
Why? Because generosity generates transformation.
So for the next two years, every dollar given will go to one fund for one purpose, advancing the mission that God has called us to, bringing as many people as possible to Jesus, always making room for one more.
And here's the shape of it, one fund for two years with three buckets.
