INTRO: I’m Hank, longtime podcaster, filmmaker, and YouTuber, and this is my review of The Mandalorian and Grogu. This is a spoiler-filled review of the movie so you’ve been warned. BUDGET: 165…
No entities detected.
The budget for The Mandalorian and Grogu is estimated to be about $165 million.
So they're going to need to hit $413-ish minimum, probably a little more than that, depending on how much marketing they did.
Because you always take it and times it by 2.5 or 3, depending on marketing.
Movie theaters keep a chunk of that money so you don't get all 100% of what you generate at the box office.
When it comes to the settings of this movie, I thought the movie varied locations quite well to make the world feel expansive.
But we're going to come back to this in the hits and misses segment.
I'm going to talk about just a handful of the performers in this movie.
Of course, you have Pedro Pascal doing the voice of the Mandalorian.
And I thought he did a solid job with the voice acting and varying the voice, even though the character is covered in the helmet for the most part.
Anyway, he does come out of the helmet just a little bit in this movie.
But I want to give a special shout out to Brendan Wayne, who is the Mandalorian suit performer.
His walk where he's got to get business done is phenomenal.
I've always loved it ever since they started doing the series where...
One person's in the suit.
Pedro's basically just doing the voiceover.
And then Lateef Crowder does the stunt performance.
And I thought he did a phenomenal job.
We'll get into that just a little bit later.
Now, I want those of you who have listened to the Mandalorian Fan Podcast to recall that I used to make fun of the one character that they had on the series that I told everybody was a budget Ripley.
And then now they get Sigourney Weaver.
I used to say not Sigourney Weaver is doing X, Y, and Z.
And it was a big meme, big funny joke.
But then they go out and get Sigourney Weaver.
So who was ahead of the curve? So she played Colonel Ward.
And I didn't mind her performance.
