Fourteen years ago, one violent moment changed my face, my vision, and the way I saw myself. In this episode, I’m taking you back to the night I was assaulted, life-flighted, and underwent an…

I wanna go back because a few days ago marked fourteen years since something had happened to me that changed my life in ways I don't think I fully understood at the time.

And by the time you're hearing this, it'll have been about a week since that anniversary passed, which is wild how some memories can fade as quickly as time goes by.

And then there are those memories that your body can still feel before your mind even finds the words for them.

And I realized that before I take you into this next part of my story, before I tell you about the season of my life where, yes, I became an exotic dancer, so stay tuned for that one.

I need to take you back to what came before it because that decision didn't happen spur of the moment.

A version of me who was trying to figure out how to live inside of a face, a body, a life that suddenly felt unfamiliar.

Not every graphic detail and not because I'm hiding from it, but because the point of this episode isn't the person who hurt me, which actually I have forgiven.

The point is what happened inside of me after and how I slowly found my way back home to me.

And if you've ever felt like you've looked in the mirror and didn't recognize the person looking back at you, if life has ever split your story into a before and after, this episode is for you.
