#199 - Eyeball w/ Oliver Dehnhardt

I know it's been a while and it works, but Oliver, as we begin with every guest that comes on the show, would you please take us through your earliest football memory?

My earliest football memory, so it has to be myself playing.

I played with my dad in the garden and That had a big influence on me because my dad was not a big football player.

That's for sure.

So I had some very early success experience with football by basically beating him at the age of five and six.

And that's probably where I really got a feel for it and an act for it.

But I also clearly remember one of the first games I attended live was, I believe it was a cup final or one of the final games of the season in Denmark, where FC Copenhagen played against Brøndby.

And I remember Copenhagen having a striker from South Africa, one of the first real foreign players in the Danish league.

This is like start 2000s, if not 90s, I kind of remember.

And he basically had a bicycle kick and scored a fantastic goal.

Probably still the best goal to ever be scored in Denmark in the deciding game of the season to win the championship.

That's something I'll never forget.

And actually, my first shirt was with him.

He's like the Danish equivalent of Ronaldinho for me, basically.

Make me fall in love with the sport and the extraordinary skills that can be in this sport as well.

amazing to think how certain stories like that shape us and indeed could shape her career could shape her fascination and love for the sport but um yeah ever since I saw that

ever since I saw that goal I just knew I could never be a defending player always had to be an attacking player and that's how I stayed throughout my career

it's not a bad way to be um It's fascinating how stories like that can kind of compel us and stay with us.

And indeed, obviously, you know, when we met last, I think it's September, October now, at the Training Ground Guru Conference in Manchester.
