Mars Express (2023)

So let's recap the story because it takes place in the year 2200.

We have some staples of the genre.

We have a private detective.

We have an Android.

We have a hacker.

You kind of begin to put together this lovely souffle.

I just like to say, as you are saying, yeah, we have a lot of hard-boiled noir detective elements.

And as with a lot of these stories, the really interesting thing to me is how do you take these things we know and present them in a more interesting, tasty way? And as you said, it is quite an interesting souffle that they begin with these ingredients.

And at first you're kind of like, okay, well, Tell me something interesting.

Tell me something new with this.

And like, no, no problem from from the beginning, from the jump.

Like what I love about the storytelling in this in this whole movie across the board.

as you learn the technologies that exist in the world, you understand how the story moves forward.

Like something happens, you don't understand how it happened, but then you understand, oh, but in this world, they do this with these things.

And you're like, okay, so that explains why that thing happened.

It's really well done storytelling where you're learning about the world and figuring out what's going on

in the mystery.

It shows, it doesn't tell.

There's not like when there is exposition, it's necessary.

It's absolutely necessary the entire time.

And

it's good exposition.

It's not the, well, as you know, Bob kind of exposition.

Yeah.

Yeah.
