Episode 100. Steve Jobs never opened a keynote with “How are you doing?” Most of us open every meeting that way — and Jeff counts a thousand of those openings a year in his own calendar.
In this milestone episode, Jeff goes back to the tape of the 2007 iPhone keynote and pulls out the five things that made Jobs the easiest man in technology to summarize: he never opened with weather, he sold the result before the device, he could be repeated in one sentence, he rehearsed what looked effortless, and he never asked for the meeting.
Then the turn: there is one room where you don’t get to deliver your pitch at all. Ask an AI assistant what your company does and read the first sentence. That’s your elevator pitch. The machine wrote it — and it delivers it more times a day than you’ve given yours in your career. The only question is where it got the words.
Jeff closes with what happened when he rewrote his own opening, and with three diagnostic questions for any CEO or business owner who says “what we do” more than any other sentence they speak.
