I thought it got nuked when this government came in, but turns out it's alive, potentially kicking, I don't know.

So for those outside of Wellington? Yeah, so your Golden Mile, it's a big Wellington infrastructure, public space sort of project they've talked about for almost, I want to say a decade, close to at least.

And the idea is there's all these different theories about what might be, but the Golden Mile is from the start of Courtney Place on Cambridge Kent Terrace end all the way through to Lampton Quay and the idea is at the moment cars can drive down there buses can drive down there and they might make it into like a one big walkway or one big bus route or whatever it is they're going to do something

so like a lot more pedestrian friendly a lot more bus friendly like quick public transport routes through the city and pushing cars out into the fringes

yep that's the one where are you supposed to get your Uber? well there's streets around it mate it's just one of the arteries yeah okay So a few veins come off the side.

Turns out this week the council is voting on whether they're going to go ahead with it or not.

I think it's changed a bit, but to some degree it couldn't change that much because it already put contracts in place.

And this vote being triggered by the latest report from consultants basically saying the cost of the thing is blowing out yet again.
