The Inner Practice-Stories of Healing from the Yoga mat into Life
Aug 19, 2026 · 21 min · 9 segments
In this special anniversary episode of *The Inner Practice*, I pause to reflect on the first year of the podcast and the stories that have shaped it. What began as a space to explore yoga…
Over the past year, I've had the privilege of sitting with incredible people who chose to share their truth, not polished versions of themselves, not curated stories designed to impress, but honest stories filled with grief, joy, resilience, uncertainty, heartbreak, courage, and hope.
And as I listen to these conversations unfold, I realize this podcast was never truly about yoga poses or wellness trends or learning about new technology.
Stories shaped by childhood, relationships, environments, heartbreak, survival, grief, joy, expectations, trauma, love, and longing.
I've had the immense privilege of sitting across from some ordinary people who carry extraordinary weight.
People who from the outside seem weightless as they move through their everyday lives, yet underneath carry experiences that have shaped them in profound ways.
I learned that most people carry a mask that they wear to hide their authentic self.
I think so many of us move through life carrying invisible things, expectations, conditioning, shame, fear, survival strategies that once protected us but no longer serve us.
This year I listened to people who spent years caring for everyone else while slowly losing themselves in the process.
Busy people, high achieving people, parents, professionals, caregivers, helpers.
People who became so focused on supporting others that they forgot they too deserved compassion, rest, healing, and care.
And there were also stories shared that felt almost incomprehensible to my own life experiences.
Stories that stretched my understanding of suffering, resilience, survival, and human strength in ways I could never have imagined.
