We see them as facts about the truth of who we are, but that's not how the mind works.

It's constantly interpreting what's happening, making connections, forming conclusions and building a model of the world.

who you are, what you think you're good at, what you think you're bad at, what people think of you, what somebody like you does, what somebody like you would never do.

Something could happen when you're a kid or a teenager, It happens to everybody.

Maybe somebody says something to you that you don't particularly like, or it's hurtful, or you remember certain evidence, and then you start noticing similar experiences.

And gradually over time, then something happened to me turns into, well, this is who I am.

And then once something becomes part of your identity, you don't really tend to question it anymore.
