The best consultancy doesn't win the work. The known one does. In this episode I break down why being technically excellent is no longer enough on its own, what staying invisible in your market is…

So the first thing I'll talk to you about is like this concept of being great at the work and the technical stuff is no longer good enough on its own.

Like most people feel like if they're good at what they do and they deliver good results to their clients that they're going to grow.

But like the best firm, the best consultancies out there, who do the best work don't often, don't necessarily win.

And obviously once you jag a client relationship and, you know, you do a good job and a client's had a bad experience before with a consultant that's stuffed up, yes, they're going to be like, this person's great.

But like if the client, initially doesn't even know you exist, like your good work never even gets a look in.

And so like the job often then goes to the firm that's the most visible and most front of mind, not necessarily the one that's actually the best at the job, which sucks and it's hard, but it's kind of the market that we're playing in at the moment.

Everyone in your space is good at the work, some more than others, but like that's just like almost a price of entry now, being good at what you do.

and so if you're relying on like your work to speak for itself you're relying on people you've never met to somehow find you at the exact moment they need you and so the firm's winning the biggest projects and the best work right now they aren't hiding they're visible they're known and they're the first thing that comes to mind with the client who wants to start a new project or give some work to a consultant so It's like a hard truth if you're really good at what you do technically, but you're not good at putting yourself out there.

That's why I want this podcast episode to kind of start to flip your mind to being more visible and putting yourself out there.

So if you know your work is as good as anyone else's, but the right clients aren't finding you, it might just be a positioning thing.
