But on a scale of one to five, now that you are back at work, Dr. McMullen, how are you doing today?

job that i love i will say i'm gonna give myself a solid 4.8 only with room for cream and i'm gonna tell you why i uh so i've been back at work since july 1 so it's been a solid two almost two months now and um you know when i first took the sabbatical i in my mind i was just like there is maybe like a 60 to 70% chance.

I felt towards the end of the sabbatical that even though I love the time off, I love not being attached to email and calendars and things like that, I didn't actually feel like I needed more time.

And when I got back to work, I will say that it has been a little bit of a rough transition back into that kind of busyness and trying to set boundaries and release boundaries when certain opportunities come up.

I was very just surprised, to be honest, by just how much fun work felt again, mostly in terms of the teaching and the clinical work.

I came right back in July, so we had new learners getting onboarded into clinic, and it was fun to just... be in that space again of just, you know, shaping that, you know, intro to residency experience.

Like, you know, as hard as some days are, like, I don't think there's a single day that I go to work that I'm not like laughing, smiling, like, you know, having the nurses offer me food.

Like it's just, it's just an incredible place to be in life, to be able to go to work and feel valued.
