Kacey HollandGuestFatimaHostMeganHostWow, Casey, amazing.
Firstly, incredibly powerful.
Like it's really courageous and you're a living example because what we're seeing now are families because of, for example, your courage and other people's courage, other moms and dads who have said, hey, this was our lived experience, right? And the more we're able to share it, the more families come out of hibernation because now we're building community around understanding that I'm not crazy.
This happened.
I witnessed it.
And while no one else within kind of these systems believed me, maybe there's going to be someone out there that does.
And most importantly, can give me a hug and go, okay, how can I help? Right.
And this is what we, our call to action is, I think within our field, because as three SLPs now sitting on this call together, I just think to myself, our field is going through the ringer.
Like we would be revered.
In the past, our profession was so well respected.
And I look at how much it's changed.
And I think so much of it is the child of today, the autistic child of today, like you shared, is not the same as the autistic child, like Megan, even from your brother's time, right? Like when we look at years ago and kind of what your mom navigated.
Yeah.
And so it should spark questions, right? We should be asking questions.
It should spark curiosity as to, for one, what has changed, right? We know our modern way of living has played a fundamental role in that.
For two, if we're noticing change externally, that should require our internal compass to pivot and shift, right? And I think that's where we're still kind of, there's friction because we're For one, two, similarly to what you shared, Casey, like without judgment, it is incredibly wild to think we would have to rethink or kind of reframe our mindset if we're not put in a situation or a dynamic where we would be forced to or called to do so.
So I totally understand that they're very traditional SLPs practicing out there, but at the same time, you cannot escape any type of caseload or
a
version of a client that's going to require a lens that says like, wait a minute, I've tried everything and we've plateaued or what I've tried just has not worked because it really is requiring a different framework of support.
And to me personally, and I know to the two of you, because we've all navigated this unlearning together too, is the biomedical approach.
So, you know, you kind of touched on, you know, specifically zeolite and we know there's so much more because sequence matters to kind of what it is to support the body, the body's innate intelligence to course correct.
to support it, to give it the tools that it needs.
But in your experience with Sander and working with a functional doctor, what, if you could share like even three of like the biggest green flags, right? Cause we tend to focus on like red flags, but like the biggest green flags that said like, wow, when you see, you can't unsee like this is, this is a deep rooted belief that I now have to lean into.
well, I, Talk to my pediatrician, right? My pediatrician said, you know, labs look normal.
