I am so excited that you're here for this episode because most of us in the industry are working moms, and even if you're not a working mom, if you're thinking about becoming a mom, I- this episode is gonna be for you because the mental load, and I see this so much lately, um, is huge.
Uh, so if you haven't listened to this month's episodes, I highly recommend going back to listen because they were ...
They gave us some really good insights, but it really made me think and reflect on how many things [laughs] that we have going on as moms.
So if you're thinking about having kids and you're like, "I don't think I can in this industry," or, you know, I think that this is one of the best industries to have a family in, but I ...
W- we do have to talk about how we can protect our energy and how to go through the mental load, and this is the perfect time to do it.
Uh, if you don't know this, I just ran a marathon, so I also had marathon training on top of, you know, career goals and all, and all of the things, and I work behind the chair as well, and I have the podcast.
I'm saying this because as I was running, I realized how much I needed a reset, and I'm sure that all of you do, too.
For some reason, when it comes to this [laughs] time of year, once the summer hits, especially here in the Midwest, like, once summer hits [laughs] we're all like, "Oh my gosh, it's summer." Our kids are out of school, you know, whatever it is, or even if it's just you don't have, like, a regular schedule anymore, or you're trying to take time off for your kids.
I've realized during my 26.2 miles of running how much I've just been white-knuckling it lately, and so I, I really wanted to have a reset with all of you because I know that you probably need a reset as well.
So this month coming up, so in June, we are going to be doing a guest experience series.
Um, so all of June will be all about the guest experience and, you know, scripts that you can say, um, this and that, and all o- all the things, because I, I do think that words matter, and I want everyone to understand all of that.
But I think that the biggest thing about guest experience and about how you speak to people is reframing your own mindset, so I felt like this was a really great episode to have a reset, and I know I need my own reset.
We're gonna talk about what the mental load actually is, and then we're gonna go through a few things that I know I am going to do or that I'm doing now that help, and hopefully that those things will help you.
So welcome to this shorty episode of the mental load being so real, and we're gonna walk through how we can fix it for ourselves.
I think, too, in this industry, and I don't wanna be like, "Oh, we're special," or anything, but we are.
We carry so much stuff and, and, and things from people, and I was told this a long time ago from a mentor is that you don't have to carry that.
I wanna start this episode with if somebody dumped on you today, that doesn't mean you put it in your backpack or you carry it along with you.
That doesn't mean just because someone shared it with you that you have to carry it around all day with you.
I had some very interesting things happen this week, and I thought to myself, "I don't want to carry..." It actually happened over the weekend, and I'm not even gonna share it because it's too personal for someone, and they don't even know that I know, and, uh, it was kind of like a right place, right time.
