And he's been charged, and this is from an event that happened back in May, but he was just charged here recently.

But this involves a gentleman named Martell Pickens, 30 years old, who's facing charges of reckless homicide, where he shot a 25-year-old guy named Kadolfi Taylor there in Fort Wayne.

And this is after Kadolfi Taylor was seen wandering around the neighborhood there where Martell Pickens lives.

In fact, Pickens was awakened, he said, at 2.45 a.m., and he noticed, and this is on security cameras, a quote-unquote suspicious man walking around the neighborhood.

At one point on video, saw this guy try to break into vehicles outside of Pickens' home and then attempt to break into Pickens' house.

Now in that moment, if you just want to freeze frame right there, can you use force against someone who's trying to break into your home? Yes, of course you can.

The wording of the castle doctrine, and so many people don't seem to understand this, the wording of the castle doctrine says that you are justified in using reasonable force, including deadly force.

If you reasonably believe that that force is necessary to prevent, that's what's such an important word that people need to understand, prevent or terminate an unlawful entry into your home.

Well, some guy wandering around your neighborhood saying, tries to break into your car, then tries to get into your house, that's unlawful.

And there's this silly notion, it's been around forever, and I would like to think this is mainly a joke among the people who say this, but for years, you know, people who own guns or whatnot or talk about self-defense, and somebody will say, well, you know, if you ever shoot somebody on the front porch, drag them inside.
