Anger can shield us from painful vulnerability.

Have you ever considered that your anger isn't the problem-but a message? Anger and Resentment can live in the body long after the moment that created them has passed. They show up as tension…
So before we get into that, I'd like to try something a little different.
We're going to let your body have its own tiny little temper tantrum without hurting yourself or anyone else.
Sometimes our nervous systems don't need another serious conversation.
So see if there's room to bring a little humor into this.
This is not about pretending you're peaceful when inside you're thinking, are you freaking kidding me? So as long as you're not driving, find a little place where you have room to move.
Is it in your hands, your shoulders, your belly, your chest? Or maybe your whole body feels like it wants to crawl out of its own skin.
So make your hands into loose fists, not tight enough to hurt yourself, just enough to feel a little strength.
And just imagine here that your hands are saying no.
Push your hands forward as if you're physically creating a little boundary between yourself and whatever's been bothering you.
Now push.
And release.
Push again.
And release.
Say the words, no, not today.
Push.
Release.
That doesn't work for me.
Now shake your hands out.
Let your wrists flop and your fingers wiggle.
Maybe even give your hands a ridiculous little shake, like you're saying, get this energy off me.
Let your shoulders join in.
Bring your shoulders up towards your ears and let them drop.
Again, up.
