We manage the two dispatch centers for the Georgia Forestry Commission that dispatch for our rangers in the field, our wildland firefighters, for our patrol and suppression pilots, as well as for our internal law enforcement that do arson and timber investigations.
you hear the word dispatch, most people would think of a traditional 911 center.
We are similar to that, but also very different in the fact that we are a blend of a dispatch center and a customer service center.
We issue burn permits for landowners around the state, as well as direct general information calls.
You may call from Dade County and get us here in Macon, or you may call from Dade County and get one of Becky's dispatchers down in Tifton.
The call tree is designed to get a caller to a live representative as quickly as possible, so you may not necessarily get the dispatch center that you are closest to.
that dispatcher may not be at the response center that will predominantly cover your county, they can still help you.
So if we get any information that needs to be passed to the response center that would cover your area, we can do so very quickly.
