How often should you actually maintain a garage door? And the answer depends slightly on the type of door you've got and how often you use it.

But as a general rule, I'd recommend giving your garage door a basic inspection at least twice a year.

And then once a year, it's worth having a proper professional service, particularly if the door is heavily used.

And if you're opening it four times a day, you're getting towards 1500 cycles a year.

So even though you might only think of it as the garage door, there are actually a lot of moving parts working together every single day.

If your garage door has always been relatively quiet and suddenly starts making a horrible grinding, scraping, squeaking, or banging noise, don't ignore it.

It could simply be a dry bearing, a roller that needs attention, a hinge that's worn, or something that just needs adjusting.
