Now, I want to start today's episode with a question: when was the last time somebody told you that up and over garage doors are dying? Because if you've been around the garage door industry for any length of time, you've probably heard it.

Nobody wants the old-fashioned garage door, and eventually, we're gonna get to a point where up and over doors just aren't relevant anymore.

I've heard versions of that conversation for years, and every time I hear it, I look at what's happening in our business and think, "Really?" Because we're still selling them.

And perhaps more importantly, there are still an awful lot of garages in the UK that need an affordable garage door putting on the front of them, and that's really what I want to talk about today because I think there's a bit of a disconnect between the way we sometimes talk about the garage door industry and the reality of what customers are actually buying.

We talk about colors and finishes and contemporary design, and all of that is absolutely relevant.

The premium end of the market is growing, but there's a danger we start looking at the top end of the market and assume that everybody else is moving in the same direction.

They're not, because there is still a huge part of the UK market where the customer doesn't want the best garage door available.

They don't want to spend 5 or 6,000 pounds making their garage look like a part of a Grand Designs project.

They just want the bloody garage door replaced, and preferably, without spending a fortune.

In fact, I think it's probably going to be around for a lot longer than some people in our industry would like to admit.
