In this episode of *Grinding For Freedom*, we talk about birthdays, moving house, client refunds, business plateaus, and the uncomfortable truth about building a business that still depends on hunting…
Yeah.
Any funny things happen this
week?
Any things happen this week? Any
funny things? Yeah.
Any interesting, non-normal things?
We refunded a client, which doesn't normally happen.
There's nothing funny about that.
No.
I mean, why did you refund him? We refunded him because...
He was just a bit ridiculous, really.
He hadn't uploaded podcasts.
So he re-signed with us.
So he was a retainer clerk.
And he just paid for a second quarter with us.
So he'd already extended for three months.
This was the second time paying for a second three months.
And then during the past three months, for half of that period, he wasn't uploading any podcast episodes, which is crazy because that's like having a personal trainer and not going to the gym for half of the month or something.
So there's only so much we could do.
So we were just following up with him and trying to get him to release episodes and trying to help him get back on schedule.
So needless to say, there wasn't really much more that we did together throughout that quarter.
And then he just came out with all this stuff like, oh, it feels like the engagement has been poured.
We've not been reaching out to him and it doesn't feel very personalized and all this stuff.
And I was like, man, because you haven't been uploading podcast episodes and actually we have been reaching out to you we called it very early on and I know that because we didn't used to be catch things very early on but now we've built systems specifically so we catch this problem and he just wasn't really he kind of accepted that but just still felt as if it hadn't been very good and he was very like look here's what we can do you can work with me for free for another three months you can refund me this quarter and give it to me for free or we can part ways here.
So I was like, no fucking way are we working with you for free.
Yeah.
