Elon Musk announced that a new flying Tesla will hit the market. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Tesla has shown off a redesigned Roadster that briefly flew, drove upside down, and reached 60 miles an hour in less than a second.
This is a real story.
I'm stressed.
The vehicle uses powerful fans to pull it toward the road and compressed air thrusters to lift and turn it.
During the event, it drove along an upside down ramp, flipped around, and then landed.
So yeah, I'm not making this up.
It flew, drove upside down, and went zero to 60 in less than one second.
It'll arrive in 2028 for everyone to buy, apparently, according to Elon Musk.
The company didn't announce a price or driving range.
Tesla said it has measured acceleration from zero to 60 in .81 seconds, and Musk claims that the finished car would be even faster than that.
There are still questions about which features would be allowed on public roads, and Musk acknowledged that some of its abilities might not be legal anywhere.
[laughs] So I'm glad we have it.
Uh, Tesla introduced the second generation Roadster in 2017 and said deliveries would start in 2020.
That deadline has passed, followed by several others.
The latest demonstration shows a working vehicle, but buyers still face another wait before the promised production date
