The Flyover State Podcast #25 with former FBI Special Agent Bob Ricks

To wrap this part up, talk about the connection back to Waco for a second.

When did the FBI determine that McVeigh's involvement in the Oklahoma City bombing was traced back to his being in Waco and maybe his anti-government views that were going on? When did you guys say, hey, this guy was connected.

This goes back to Waco.

Or other

incidents.

Ruby Ridge has been mentioned, other things.

Yeah.

The 19th, we immediately suspected that it had something to do with Waco.

In right-wing history, Lexington and Concord, April 19th.

So it is predominant in a lot of right-wing extremist views.

That is a key date.

Just like 9-11 is a key date in Islamic history.

Yeah.

But so we believe it was in reprisal.

Now, we didn't know anything about Timothy McVeigh.

So I had his father, flew him down here.

We talked to his sister, talked to his mother, talked to everybody that knew him, trying to compile a history of him.

Now, his dad... you know, says he started forming these anti-government views.

His dad was protective of him.

Dad was a great guy.

He was salt of the earth and worked all of his life.

Didn't believe his son would do something like that, but obviously it was incorrect.

But he was helpful.

He wanted to give us as much background as he possibly could.

And we go and learn the whole history of who Timothy McVeigh was from birth all the way up till the bombing occurred, trying to get a psychological profile of this gentleman.
