This week on The First Run, Chris and Matt experienced the latest film by Alejandro González Iñárritu and Tom Cruise, it’s ‘Digger’. Watching the trailer, Chris felt people were going to either love or hate this film. And could it be a musical? So much mystery going into the film with its esoteric ad campaign. But does it work? Then Chris runs down the latest big releases on Physical Media. And I’m sure there will be other fun, endearing, and possibly outraging things discussed too. It’s another stellar episode of The First Run. 00:00-17:15: **Intro/Digger** 17:16-26:18: **Physical Media Picks** 26:19-30:45: **Wrap Up** Theme music by Jamal Malachi Ford-Bey

Digger Review1:46 – 17:14

T

Tom CruiseSoundbite Speaker

1:46

My granddad had to bury his own brother with his very shovel.

T

Tom CruiseSoundbite Speaker

1:49

And then he just kept right on digging.

C

Chris ScalzoHost

1:52

I am so

T

Tom CruiseSoundbite Speaker

1:52

sorry, sir.

T

Tom CruiseSoundbite Speaker

1:53

You know, Christmas Day, well, he took oil.

T

Tom CruiseSoundbite Speaker

1:57

See, now what I'm trying to say is every one of them heroes, they know the risk.

T

Tom CruiseSoundbite Speaker

2:00

We all know the risk because we are heroes.

T

Tom CruiseSoundbite Speaker

2:04

What the fuck is going on here? Mr.

T

Tom CruiseSoundbite Speaker

2:06

Rockwell.

C

Chris ScalzoHost

2:08

Yeah, speak to me.

C

Chris ScalzoHost

2:09

Uh-oh, sounds like a very terrifying phone call came in to Tom Cruise during his monologue there.

C

Chris ScalzoHost

2:15

Matt, what is Digger all about?

M

Matt HowellHost

2:17

Um, okay.

M

Matt HowellHost

2:23

So Digger Rockwell, played by Tom Cruise, he's a modern oil baron, and he's been warned repeatedly that his constant digging for oil is putting things at risk, specifically along the Alaska and Greenland ice shelves.

M

Matt HowellHost

2:38

Well, because he's greedy and we need that their oil and energy reserves, a massive chunk of ice breaks off of Greenland due to his continued digging and ignoring the warnings.

M

Matt HowellHost

2:52

And it is drifting towards Scandinavia.

M

Matt HowellHost

2:56

When it hits Scandinavia, it is going to cause a massive tidal wave that is going to flood Europe.

M

Matt HowellHost

3:02

And of course, that is a slight problem for the people of Europe.

C

Chris ScalzoHost

3:07

And in a way, Matt, that is absolutely not what this film is about.

M

Matt HowellHost

3:10

Correct.

C

Chris ScalzoHost

3:10

Right.

C

Chris ScalzoHost

3:11

It is...

C

Chris ScalzoHost

3:12

I don't know.

C
