**Unwanted Sensations: The Shape Changer Technique** A guided visualisation technique to help you manage pain or discomfort during pregnancy and labour. By giving a sensation a shape and colour, then…
No entities detected.
I want you to imagine the sensation that you're feeling, the pain, or the irritable feeling that you may have during your pregnancy or during the start of your labor.
I want you to really focus on this pain or sensation and give it a shape and a color.
How is this making you feel, and what does it look like? Maybe it looks like a spiky red ball, or for some, it may be a square or a blob or a 3D shape.
Just focus on that pain or sensation that you're feeling and give it a shape or a color.
Now you have associated this sensation or pain with a color and shape, we are going to work to change the sensation, change how it feels, and change how it looks.
You have the power inside of your mind to change how this feels.
I want you to now focus back on the color and shape and start to slowly mold it.
You may want to use your hands, or maybe just your mind.
And we're going to slowly change this into something that feels really relaxing, comfortable, and completely pain-free.
Maybe you will squeeze your shape, maybe you will pull it apart, or maybe you will simply just mold it into something more flexible, adaptable, and comfortable.
As you are doing this, I want you to think about the color and start to use your mind to change the color of this sensation you are feeling.
Change it to a color that feels relaxing, comfortable, and makes you feel happy.
As you are doing this, you start to notice how the sensation that you originally was feeling is also starting to change and mold and just release.
The more you focus on changing the shape and the color, the more you realize the power you have to change the sensation along with this.
And the more that you allow yourself to mold, move, and pull apart your original shape, you start to notice how you are also moving, molding, and changing the sensations within your body.
And as the color changes, you feel a relaxation come over your body, and the tension that you was feeling from this sensation or pain is drifting away, melting into the colors of your new, beautiful shape and relaxed color.
And as you now focus on your new shape and new color, you realize how you can let it go and relax your body and release any sensations which may feel uncomfortable.
Continue to practice this exercise whenever you feel a niggle, a pain, or sensation that you don't want to feel.
Allow yourself to practice this on a daily basis, and the more and more you practice, the more you will be able to control and manage the sensations that you are feeling.
