What if you don't actually need more energy... but need to stop leaking the energy you already have? In this episode, Ilana explores the hidden energy leaks that may leave you feeling exhausted…
This is episode 274, and today we're talking about something that I've been seeing a lot in my clinic lately, and it's something that I have also been doing a lot of content around recently, and that's around rest, boundaries, white space, old habits, and feeling disconnected from yourself.
I keep hearing a lot at the moment that, "I just don't feel I have enough energy," or, "I don't know why I'm feeling exhausted," or, "I can't find a flow at the moment." And I totally understand that.
Many women are carrying so many loads, mental load at home, mental load of their work or their business, mental load sometimes of their elderly parents, their communities, um, so much that we're carrying.
And often women say it the most-- I would say the most when I say to my clients, "How would you like to feel after this session?" I would say 80% of the time I get, "I'd like to feel more energized," or, "I'd like more vitality or zest." And sometimes we need more sleep.
And sometimes we need to organize our lives a little better, and maybe we need a different routine and some more flow, adding in more exercise and a little more discipline.
But what if the problem isn't that you don't have enough energy or you need to get more energy? What if you're leaking too much of your, the energy that you already have? And that is what we're gonna explore in today's podcast episode, exploring where are you leaking and draining energy.
It's like you've got a tap, and it's just pouring water out, and we need to turn some of those taps off.
Because I've been seeing this as a real common pattern in my clinic lately, [lips smack] and I just wanted t-to share some insights that I've been having.
We're gonna talk about five patterns that I've been seeing recently in relation to this, but I wanted to define what is an energy leak or a drain.
An energy leak is something that is continually draining your energy without you necessarily realizing it.
[lips smack] Like the tap is running full-blown, all your energy's being drained out, but you're not conscious that that's, is what is happening.
It might be a responsibility you're carrying that may not also be yours to carry in the first place.
It might be a story or a belief you're telling yourself, and again, this might be yours, but it might be something that you've inherited from your parents.
It might be generational, so it's something you've inherited, um, from your family.
It could be something cultural, or it could be something that you've inherited from society.
It might be a decision that you've been avoiding, or you've got too many open tabs.
And then we realize they have so many open tabs open, decisions they've been avoiding and things like that.
