Shannon BumgarnerHostAnd I think many women are incredibly capable, probably beyond what they believe themselves to be.
Why do you think so many women wait to be chosen and have that mindset instead of start choosing themselves?

I mean, I think we're socialized to wait and to be patient, and then we're often rewarded for that.

If you think, Shannon, back of being a little girl, a young person, and we had to be patient and prepared, and then the teacher would call on us, and So we're socialized to operate that way.

And what I'm just really hoping to do to make women aware of that so they can intentionally choose something different.

And so the big shock, I think, is to come out of college where, again, women... um our experience everyone's experienced a meritocracy in college but women specifically follow the syllabus that's how you get an a and the rules are very clear and straightforward and then you get into the workplace and there's essentially unwritten rules everywhere it's like wait how does this place operate and wait how do how do people get promoted and how are decisions made because it's not obvious and so that i think takes women a long time to really understand and process and realize there's really like three big things when you get in the workplace.
Not that that doesn't need to happen, but it's definitely not on somebody's objectives.

But the goal is to get that off your plate because you have to be working on things that organization cares about.
