You know, the word balance is interesting, right? I think when you're, if you're 34 or younger, I think you have a lot of energy to run and grind and you should do that without at the same time having some guardrails to say, what are the most important things to me in my life? What kind of things do I regret not doing now? And so we always had a framework of, okay, family is very important.

I've got a friend of mine who's a great dad in a lot of ways, but he doesn't have a job regularly.

And the family would love it if they had spent a little less time with him and go provide.

And I think there's seasons where you run and seasons where you say, look, I'll do this.

Now, if the sprint turns into a marathon and it's a marathon that never ends, it's a hundred mile race.

So I think regularly assessing, all right, for the next 90 days, and I take it 90-day chunks, if I'm in all the big areas of life I care about, my relationships, because you're never going to be happier than the quality of your relationships.

What am I doing intentionally there with those relationships in my family that matter most to me? My wife, are we doing date nights? Am I home at a time, depending on the age of the kids? There was a time when Jamie said, I said, what time would it be great for me to be home with you.

At one point she said, if you could be here at four o'clock every day, that would be great.

I could get up as early as I wanted and start as early, but it was really important to her to that.

Now that, what did that mean? It meant that there's meetings I couldn't take and things I couldn't do, but ultimately you didn't miss.

I think you've got to put guardrails in place to say, okay, what things am I absolutely going to protect as if it's my best client meeting? because we tend to push off the people that we're most familiar with, that ultimately we want them to love us most in our lives.

So whatever season of life you're in, like people still ask me, what do you still get home at four? I'm like, nobody'd be here.

I am home because I work from home, I guess, but nobody's here, right? It's just the kids are, one's in college, one has a job.

And when you eat dinner with people that are in their late 70s, you eat about 5.30 at the latest and they're getting angry, right? So there's just no way.
