The main skills that I was taught was how do I identify a problem, ask certain questions, and move somebody to take action as quickly as possible.

I was a competitive person, so this spoke to some part of me, but there was a small voice inside of like, is this what financial planning really is? Because I would frequently have situations where I would meet with a business owner, somebody that enjoyed real estate, and the feeling I had is I was trying to talk them out of certain things and lead them to the things that I had to offer.

I do believe they were better off with the advice I was giving them than if they didn't have any advice, but I still knew I wasn't able to serve them with a process, a process that would just help them make the best choices for themselves.

And I remember there was this time where I was working with a business owner and a lot of times these business owners really understand their business and they have a great model in place.

You know, every time this business owner invests a dollar into their business, they get a $20 back.

There's a chance you've met a business owner like that where you're just like, wow, they're running a great business here, great cash flow.

And I was in my mid-20s and I caught myself trying to talk that business owner out of growing their own business because I wanted them to open a brokerage account.

I was left with that feeling of like, man, I really wish I just had a process that would guide them into the best direction.

Maybe that's what I thought the best financial plan was, but the most successful people I've met don't have this traditional financial plan.

So as I went down that journey, and I was heavy on the insurance side, and then I went over to the wire house side and said, I'm just going to manage money.

And again, I was met with, no matter who I met with, I was trying to say, do you have money to invest? Do you have a 401k to roll over? And you could have been a business owner, a real estate investor with amazing cash flow.
