And as September is PMOS Awareness Month, we're going to take the opportunity to talk a little bit more about this condition.
And it's the new term that we are using now for the formerly known as PCOS, polycystic ovarian syndrome.
And this new name, polyendocrine metabolic syndrome, actually means dysfunction of multiple hormonal and metabolic organs.
pathways and it is a term that started to be used and accepted by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine in May 2026.
It's a pretty new term and it actually reflects much better the complexity of the syndrome because of course PMOS is It's not only about having cysts in the ovaries, and it actually not only affects the ovaries, but it's a much more complex syndrome.
It can have affection not only on our ovulation or the menstrual cycle pattern, but also on how we metabolize glucose and insulin resistant levels, as well as many other systems, for example, through autoimmunity, depending on the phenotype.
So the word PMOS now reflects the complexity of the syndrome much better.
