The challenges I think we're facing in the current expression of the prophetic particularly within the more independent streams is that we're almost at a point where it's difficult to recognize the nature of what scripture teaches in relation to prophetic function prophetic expression prophetic enactment And what's taking place now, it's almost a free for all.
I've said this, that it's a cottage industry that's almost separated itself from the local church and from the context of everything Paul speaks of in Ephesians relative to the body.
suspect and questionable and some that's outright divination so I think it's important that we recover by way of getting back to what the text says what we have in the tradition from the beginning relative to the prophetic get back to what that actually is all about so that we can be faithful
And I appreciate that because, you know, if anybody has followed your ministry at any length of time, they will or hopefully realize that your call, your urge, your courage, your challenge to the church and particularly within our streams is always to come back to that faithfulness of the gospel of jesus the prophetic word and so this is what this book does so picking up in chapter seven the title is insight projection or prophetic word and you open up with a quote from ignatius of leola the spiritual exercises And it says this.
We should not accept everything without question that enters our mind under the guise of good, but should examine it carefully to see whether it comes from God.
If I had to sum it up, things you talk about in that chapter specifically is that not every true observation is a prophetic word in the culture that we live in today.
But particularly in our culture, why is it so important for us to understand that not every observation is a prophetic word?
