It takes time, and actually, you're not doing as good a job as if you weren't taping because unless you're extremely meticulous and are perfect with your tape lines, some people are, but sometimes the tape can overlap onto the paint, or sometimes the tape doesn't completely hide the trim, and sometimes the tape itself will shed a bit of adhesive that you're now spreading over the panel.

It's just a mess.

There's a lot of polishes on the market that are safe for trim, and if someone today is making a polish that isn't safe for trim, please just update your formula.

It's not difficult to do, and that way there's no need to tape things off anymore.

You can, but be very, very careful because it cuts very quickly, and when we're polishing trim, the goal of polishing trim is to clean the trim.

Now, the Gold Standard Compound, if you accidentally touch it here and there, not an issue.

But if you stay on it and melt it, then yeah, that can become an issue.

But again, you don't need to tape that off.

The only time I would tape something is if I have some vinyl stripes that are old, that are decrepit, uh, or that are a matte stripe, and I'm having to compound the vehicle, then I might tape.

But we recently did a, a 2007 Mustang that only had 700 miles on it.

The stripes were a little worse for wear because they were just cheap stripes from the factory.

So, uh, you know, it's because of age more than anything else, and I didn't wanna touch them, and it's very easy to polish right up to that edge, especially when you're using a rotary, but it's very easy to polish right up to that edge without touching the trim or touching the stripes.
