I first got the idea for this episode when I was in Denver this summer, so two months and change ago.
It was, like, a very kind of, like, modern, maybe, like, fusion sushi, like, Japanese with, like, something else I don't even remember.
And Danny and I, and maybe even my cousin that we were with, we split a sushi roll as an appetizer.
And... on the outside of the roll were these like crunchy, I don't, they were really, really tiny.
And it had, I don't know if they were like some type of like little rice ball, but like really tiny, but it was a super crunchy texture all over the outside.
So when you took a bite of this, you got kind of like the sticky bite of the rice.
And I was so sad when it was over because I'm like, when am I going to get to have this again? And it wasn't even like the taste was awesome, but it was the texture.
And I'm like, there's no one around me in New Jersey who's making a sushi roll like this.
Like, how am I going to find this again? And I have not stopped thinking about it.
And I said to Danny – and this has kind of become like a running joke with Danny – And it's been a running joke for so long, well before the sushi thing happened, where I'm like, oh my God, this is like a thing.
My entire life, so when I grew up, my mom would make pasta, which I called spaghetti growing up.
