Have you ever finally understood something about yourself? And maybe it was something that took months of therapy to even name, and then you felt like you immediately needed someone to try to like understand it too.

I know I felt this way, where something clicks and I'm like, oh my gosh, I just want whoever it is, fill in the blank, to know, to understand, to see this to be true about me too.

And then you mention something that your therapist said that really landed for you.

And then somehow you end up telling this other person something about your childhood that you had never planned to share in the first place.

And throughout this whole process, maybe a part of you wants to stop, but you can feel yourself looking for like one more sentence, the one sentence that might finally get through.

Then I feel like I want to explain to other people what's happening and why I might react in certain ways.

And then they wrote, for some reason, I have such a longing for them to understand.

Not how to explain yourself or your history better, or not how to get someone else to finally come around and be with you in something, the longing itself and what's actually yours to do with it.
