And also now walk me through, you hinted at it, but your academic journey.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

4:56

Sure, sure.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

4:56

Yeah, so started college wanting to do education, and then I switched to counseling.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:02

But I took some electives, Life of Christ and Greek, as a junior.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:07

And within the first week, I said, this is it.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:10

This is what I want to do with my life.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:11

Because I had always been a kid who loved school, and I had always been a kid who loved church.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:16

And I didn't know you could put the two together.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:18

And I'm like, oh, my goodness.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:19

Yeah.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:20

That's what I want to do.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:21

And so I always say this, but I'm so grateful that the thing I discovered at 20 and fell in love with, I get to do every day, which is think deeply about Scripture in an academic and spiritual way.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:33

For me, those serve one another very well.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:35

So I finished my undergrad with a BA in biblical languages.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:38

And then, of course, if you have a BA in biblical languages, what do you do? You go on to grad school, right? There are no other options.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:45

I mean, actually, that's not correct.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:47

Some of my peers went on into translations to work for places like Wycliffe, which is amazing.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:53

But I went then on to seminary.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:55

I went to Princeton Seminary because I wanted academic rigor.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

5:59

And they really – the main degree they offered was an MDiv.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

6:02

I had 0% desire to ever do anything in the church.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

6:06

Now, that's a harsh statement.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

6:08

I didn't dislike the church.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

6:09

I just didn't imagine that – God would call me there.

A

Amy PeelerGuest

6:13

But I wanted a rigorous academic preparation in theology and Bible, and Princeton gave me that.
