``` Feeder cattle futures took a beating this week, with 500-549 weight steers sliding $22 off their July highs and 600-649 weight steers forecast to drop another $27 in just seven days. Three…
Looking at the numbers on those 500 to 549 weight steers, current price sits at $402.94 per hundred weight.
That's down $3.31 from last week and down $22.47 from a month ago.
It is.
And the forecast doesn't show much relief either.
One week out, we're looking at $384.76. Four weeks out, $387.49.
So the model's expecting a bit of stabilization, but well off those July highs.
Now on the heavier end, the 600 to 649 steers are sitting at $364.07, down $7.46 week over week, and down $21.23 on the month.
That one week forecast is the real eyebrow raiser, though.
$337.70. That's a sharp drop from where we are today.
That's a big gap to close in seven days.
Jim, you've been around long enough to see markets get spooked before.
Well, it seems like it's coming at us from every direction this week.
Border, cash market, consumer confidence all in the same breath.
That's a fair way to put it.
