Ep 27: Lyla Sage Interview

How was writing this one different for you from even soul searching, but also from the Rebel Blue Ranch and finishing out that series?

I think like as far as Rebel Blue Ranch goes, by the time Wild and Wrangled came around and was like, I wrote it way before it came out.

But by the time Pub Day rolled around, I was like, All right, folks, it is time for me to exit the premises of this town.

Like I was ready to go.

And that doesn't mean that I don't adore and love and miss

Meadowlark and Rebel Blue Ranch

because I do.

But right, like I was like, I have accomplished what I wanted to accomplish.

I executed upon my vision for these four books.

I feel settled with where it's at and I'm ready to get out.

Like I'm ready to roll and like leave these people to their own devices and I will visit them when I can.

With...

Free Falling and Soul Searching.

I think Free Falling, I finished writing it and now we're approaching pub day and I'm incredibly sad

to go.

I'm incredibly like sad to leave Sweetwater Peak.

And

so that has been really different.

I think with Soul Searching, it was, Soul Searching is kind of the closest I've been able to get to the feeling that I had when I wrote Done and Dusted because no one knew nor cared what I was working on in a post-Rebel Blue Ranch world.

And like I turned in Soul Searching the week before Lost and Lassoed came out.

So, right, I was incredibly, like, I was very, like, ahead of it.

And, like, no one cared what I was working on because Wild and Wrangled still had to exist.

And so, like, that was really freeing.

And I really enjoyed Soul Searching because of that.

And Soul Searching is very close to my heart.
