What if good enough was actually enough? We put so much pressure on ourselves to improve every area of our lives at the same time—to be better moms, better partners, better employees, healthier, more…
We are all, every single one of us, you and me, trying to figure out how do we cope in our current season of life, right? Our expectations are always so unrealistically high and we put so much pressure on ourselves.
And when we feel like we're failing, when we feel like we're not doing a good enough job, we're we make things even more complicated and even harder to cope within the mess and to cope within the struggle.
And so we're surrounded by and constantly overwhelmed with the pressure to do it all.
That's what everybody is always talking about is that you have to do it all.
You have to be everyone and everything at all moments of the day.
And yeah, It can be a lot.
It can be really restricting and really discouraging.
We feel the pressure to be healthy and make healthier choices and to implement more structure and routine in our life and have time to exercise and have time to organize and have time to perfectly plan the lunches the night before.
And then also we need to be present and not distracted when we are spending time with our kids and give them our best self and give everybody else our best self and continue to work on our relationships and get ahead on our projects and our deadlines.
We want to have that time where we can journal and read more and all these things that we are told by voices that are not our own that we must get done.
This framework quickly takes a hold of our life and turns us into this giant self-improvement project.
But what I want you to hear, because yes, it's great to have goals.
Yes, it's great to take inventory of your life and figure out this is going well, this is not going well, this needs to be fixed, right? But what if everything doesn't have to be better right now? What if our good enough can just be enough for this current season? We only have so much capacity.
There are only so many hours in a day, days in a week, and there's only so much energy that we have within us.
And some days that energy is more than others.
And other days we feel compressed and we have to be kind to ourselves.
We have to listen into our bodies and we have to recognize that our good enough is fine.
We've all been in that moment, right? Where you are at a breaking point and you feel overwhelmed and you're just like, oh, this is like, this is all I can do, right? Is this it? Is this, am I good enough here, right? And let, just let that be.
Let that actually live in the moment where we can recognize that right now, good enough is just fine, right? Things don't have to be perfect.
Things don't have to be completely perfect.
maximize in every area of our life but there are certain things in certain seasons that we can just let it be okay and let our good enough be enough and so as you enter into this week think through what is it that you're focusing your energy towards right now think through what area of your life deserves More of you.
What area of your life deserves your best? Okay, because there's some areas of our life that in each season are meant to be growing.
Areas in our life that we're meant to be intentionally pursuing and intentionally putting our effort towards to reach the next step, to reach the next level, right? But there's also a season of our life that is meant to be in a season of maintenance.
where we're not having to improve upon our actions, where instead the season of maintenance deserves to be our own reckoning that good enough is more than okay.
