October is here, and I want to help you slow down enough to actually enjoy it. In this episode, we're kicking off the month with simple, intentional ways to make the most of October—from getting…
And so I'm sharing with you today a fun little October intentional to-do list.
Sharing with you some things to keep in mind to make as a priority this month.
And the beautiful thing about this is we're not trying to maximize our month.
We are not trying to accomplish all of the things, right? We're not trying to do every single fall adventure.
We're not trying to make every single fall treat.
We're not trying to do all of the fall family-friendly activities.
We simply are trying to take a few things that bring us joy, things that allow us to connect and figure out what works for us, and then move in that direction.
One of my favorite months, of course, is October because it just feels like things are slowing down.
The days start to get shorter, right? The sun sets earlier, so it naturally tells our bodies to wind down a bit sooner.
And we can embrace this cozy inside, snuggled up, "Let me just watch something enjoyable or read a good book," and get back to the basics a little bit more.
And September was focusing in on simplifying our routines and simplifying how we do things, but what I really want us to do is allow October to be the month that we fully lean into and actually enjoy it, even within the busy, even within the crazy, even in a full schedule, finding moments to just enjoy the life that we are living.
And again, not having to maximize it all, not having to do it all, not trying to do every single thing, but taking the moments and choosing the things that matter most that we know fill our heart with the most joy.
And so for our first item on our October intentional to-do list is to get outside while it's beautiful and enjoy the beautiful weather of fall.
And when you spend time outside, this does not have to be a grand adventure.
This can be something that is so simple, something that is so just within your normal day as you are already living it, right? This can be walking around the neighborhood, sitting outside on the front porch.
This could be allowing your kids to spend time in the driveway and not rushing them.
But really allowing yourself to find time within your normal day and your normal schedule and your normal life to enjoy the temperature, enjoy the weather, enjoy the scenery.
There is such a wonder that happens to us, to our nervous system, to our whole entire bodies when we can step outside and spend that time outside.
We went this morning to the park, and we walked, and it was low 70s, overcast, lots of cloudy skies as rain was in the forecast, and so many leaves were on the ground, and it was just this stillness to life as we were walking around which felt so calming and so just peaceful.
And it was such a great morning to spend as a family walking in s- with a stroller, and my oldest was on his bike, of course, with training wheels.
My husband got his run in, sipping a wonderful iced coffee, a fall flavored drink from the local coffee shop.
Just really another reminder every time that I can spend time outside, it reminds me to slow down.
It reminds me to take a deep breath.
It reminds me to feel less of the stress that I may be carrying within me and on my shoulders.
And so full permission to take some time and spend it outside when you have the chance.
